Our mission at Great Pains Chiropractic and Wellness is to help as many people as possible recover their youthful health and vitality through the use of non-surgical physical rehabilitation.  To help in this process our practice offers additional therapies to support your care.  Below are the services that our practice offers at our state of the art facility:

Traction

Traction is used to reduce pain related to protruding and herniating discs, degenerative disc disease, facet joint disorders, spinal root impingement, compression fractures and more.

What is Traction Therapy?

Traction Therapy is a non-surgical traction based treatment outcome for herniated or bulging discs in the neck and lower back. Anyone who has back, neck, arm or leg pain may be helped by traction therapy.

What Makes Traction so Effective?

Doctor skill combined with the table and computerized traction head are the keys. Proper assessment, correct positioning and the use of pre-programmed patterns of distraction and relaxation may reduce disc pressure allowing necessary nutrients to enliven and accelerate disc healing.

To reduce inflammation and assist in the healing process, supporting structures are treated with passive therapies such as ice, heat, and muscle stimulation, chiropractic adjustments (as indicated) and/or active rehabilitation in order to strengthen the spinal musculature.

Ultrasound

Therapeutic ultrasound is a form of deep heat therapy created by sound waves. When applied to soft tissues and joints, the sound waves are a form of micro-massage that helps reduce swelling, increase blood flow, and decrease pain, stiffness, and spasms.

Therapeutic ultrasound benefits you in three primary ways. It increases the blood flow to the treated area to speed up the healing process by delivering more oxygen and nutrients to the area and removing cell waste. Through vibrations, it decreases swelling and edema to reduce pain. It increases the recovery rate of damaged tissue without adding strain and softens any scar tissue.

Electrical Stimulation

This type of therapy uses light electrical pulses that are transmitted to specific areas of the body through electrodes placed on the skin. There are many different types of electrical stimulation. Some are more beneficial for pain relief or to reduce inflammation, some for muscle spasm, and some cause the muscles to contract gently to reduce muscle atrophy. Some have combination effects.

Electrical Stimulation Benefits

  1. Relax muscle spasms
  2. Reeducate muscles
  3. Stimulate circulation by contracting and relaxing muscles
  4. Clear wastes from tissues
  5. Pain relief
  6. Reduce swelling
